Scottish Enterprise RaiSEs profile in Europe

Supported by Scottish Government and key social economy partners, Scottish Enterprise (SE) will be leading for Scotland in the RaiSE project, which is funded by the Interreg Europe programme.

The six participating regions will work together to enhance the competitiveness of social enterprises by sharing their experiences in developing improved business support policies and infrastructure. This will provide an ideal opportunity to showcase social enterprise policy and business support as well as disseminating the learning from other European regions.

Scottish Enterprise will be supporting the co-ordination of a strong collaborative approach in the implementation of Scotland’s 10 year Social Enterprise Strategy, Internationalising Social Enterprises Strategy and the social enterprise commitments within the Scottish Trade & Investment Strategy.

Following the official welcome to the partnership this month, the first study visit will be to Budapest on 15 May where SE will be joined by colleagues from Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the Scottish founder of the Social Enterprise World Forum, Gerry Higgins, from CEIS.

This project will build on Scotland’s global reputation as a leader in inclusive growth and progressive social economy policy and activity including mapping and analysis of the support ecosystem for social enterprises across Scotland as well as knowledge exchange with partners in Spain (Catalunya), Hungary, Italy (Emilia-Romagna), Sweden (Örebro) and Ireland (BMW region).

Plus, Scotland will be hosting a study visit which will align with Scotland bringing the Social Enterprise World Forum back to its original home in Edinburgh for its 10th anniversary in 2018.

This Interreg Europe project is a programme funded by the European Regional Development Fund, which helps regional and local governments across Europe to develop and deliver better policy.
