Purpose | Horizon Europe is an EU programme for member states and other participating countries, including the UK, which supports all stages of research and innovation. It aims to drive the systemic changes needed to ensure a green, healthy, resilient and inclusive Europe, and to support its global competitiveness, via investment in research and innovation activities. The programme is open to all types of organisations, including private sector (large and small businesses), public sector, universities, and research organisations, and includes funding opportunities for both individual applicants and collaborative transnational partnership projects. It has three funding 'Pillars': 1. Excellent Science - aims to increase the EU's global scientific competitiveness by supporting individual frontier researchers and academics, and their teams; 2. Global Challenges & European Industrial Competitiveness - focuses on supporting research and applied demonstration relating to global societal challenges, and reinforcing technological and industrial capacities. The key areas are Health; Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Societies; Civil Security for Society; Digital Industry and Space; Climate, Energy and Mobility; and Food, Bio-economy, Natural Resources, Agriculture & Environment. 3. Innovative Europe - aims to develop the European innovation landscape and to make Europe a front-runner in the innovation market with support for breakthrough, disruptive innovations. |
