THE ROAD TO GREEN SKILLS: UPSKILLING AND RESKILLING FOR A JUST TRANSITION
17 May 2022
11:00 – 12:30 CET / 10:00 - 11:30 BST
We are delighted to invite you to an online panel discussion marking European Vocational Skills Week.
The transition to net zero is the defining challenge of our generation but how can we ensure that the transition is fair, reduces inequalities and ensures that nobody is left behind?
Partnerships between public, academic and industry bodies are key to the upskilling and reskilling of workers across Europe, equipping them with the skills required to anticipate industry needs and to benefit from the challenges and opportunities of a green and just transition. This is a vital component of achieving ambitious government pledges such as the European Green Deal and targets related to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
Please join us at this event where we will hear directly from Commission colleagues on the importance of the green skills agenda as well as representatives of Michelin’s sites in France, Brussels and Scotland who will highlight their work on generating economic growth at the same time as supporting a fair and just transition to a net zero economy.
The event will include the following speakers:
Further panelists may be added and confirmed at a later date.
The event will be moderated by Laura Rayner, a policy analyst for the Social Europe and Well-being Programme at the European Policy Centre. There will be an opportunity for audience members to ask the panellists questions.
